Paying rent through CRED, NoBroker, Paytm and the like. Most banks now charge you a fee for it and pay nothing back.
No card in your wallet earns rewards on rent yet.
When you add a card that does, it will rank here automatically.
Best in market
Rent rewards are effectively dead in 2026: every major bank gives zero points on rent and most add a 1% fee on top of platform fees. Paying rent by card is a net cost almost everywhere. Only two narrow angles remain. · Top-tier picks from the whole Indian market, researched 7 Aug 2026.
IDFC FIRST Bank FIRST SWYP
400 RP (₹100) monthly on ₹20k+ rent. The last card that explicitly rewards rent (still net negative after platform fees)
₹499 + GST
The only mainstream card in 2026 that still explicitly rewards rent. It roughly halves the platform-fee hit rather than beating it. Use only if you need the card-payment float anyway.
The reward is flat-capped at 400 RP regardless of rent size, and platform fees of roughly 1% to 2% plus GST exceed it. Verify the offer is live before relying on it.
American Express Platinum Travel (milestone route)
No bank-side rent fee, and rent spend counts toward the ₹1.9L/₹4L/₹7L milestone bonuses
₹3,500 + GST joining, ₹5,000 renewal
Amex is the one issuer that hasn't zeroed-out rent and levies no rent fee of its own. Milestone bonuses (up to 40,000 MR + ₹10k Taj voucher at ₹7L) can make rent-assisted spend worth ~3%+. Worthwhile only when rent pushes you across a threshold.
CRED doesn't accept Amex for rent. The few platforms that do charge higher Amex fees (~1.5-2% + GST). Test that rent (MCC 6513) actually posts MR before committing a year of rent. Limited Amex acceptance overall.
