Infinia Metal Edition
Joining ₹12,500 · Annual ₹12,500 · Spend ₹10,00,000 in the preceding 12 months to get the next renewal fee waived. Separately, from 1 Apr 2026 HDFC also requires ₹18,00,000 annual card spend (primary + add-on) OR ₹50,00,000 relationship value just to KEEP the card. A retention test, not a fee waiver (see perks.other).
Fee break-even: ≈₹3,75,375/yr through this card at its base rate. Below that, the fee eats the rewards.
Earns Reward Points · assumed 1 ₹/point. Priced at 1 RP = ₹1, the SmartBuy flights/hotels rate (also the Apple and Tanishq rate). Infinia/Infinia Metal are exempt from the ₹99 reward-redemption fee and the ₹50 cashback-redemption fee, so ₹1/RP is net. Constraints that make this the realistic-but-not-guaranteed route: at most 70% of a flight/hotel booking (and of an Apple product or Tanishq voucher) can be paid in RP, the rest goes on the card. Flight+hotel+airmile-transfer redemptions are capped at 1,50,000 RP per calendar month. Apple redemptions are capped at 1 product per calendar quarter and Tanishq at 50,000 RP per calendar quarter. If you cannot use travel/Apple/Tanishq, the realistic value falls to ~₹0.50 per RP on the products-and-voucher catalogue or ₹0.30 per RP as statement cashback (capped 50,000 RP/calendar month). I.e. An effective 1.67% or 1.0% instead of 3.33%. Airmile transfers are 1 RP = 1 mile for most partners but 2 RP = 1 mile for Turkish Miles&Smiles, Accor and Avianca LifeMiles. RP expire 3 years after accrual and are nullified entirely if the card is unused for 365 days.

| UPI spending | 0% | Infinia Metal Edition is issued on Visa Infinite / Mastercard World, and only RuPay credit cards can be linked to UPI. HDFC does offer a RuPay sibling. 'Infinia Bharat'. But it is a separate, cheaper product (reportedly ₹8,000 + GST, ~2 RP per ₹150 on UPI, 1 RP ≈ ₹0.75 on SmartBuy), not a companion card that shares this card's limit, so Infinia Metal itself cannot transact on UPI. |

Also worth knowing
- Realistic eligibility: strictly invite-only. HDFC does not publish criteria and will not accept a direct application. In practice invites go to customers with roughly ₹4-5 lakh monthly income (or an equivalent ITR) and/or a large existing HDFC relationship such as Imperia/Private Banking. Treat it as unavailable unless HDFC approaches you.
- RETENTION RULE (effective 1 Apr 2026, in the official MITC): continued access to the Infinia programme requires, per financial year (1 Apr, 31 Mar), either Infinia card spend of ₹18,00,000 including add-on cards, OR relationship value of ₹50,00,000 where RLV = combined average monthly balances across savings, current, fixed and recurring deposits. Cardholders who miss both are intimated, then offered the next-best card variant with their consent, or the card is closed by the bank with at least 30 days' notice. First enforcement lands in 2027 on FY2026-27 performance. Reported exclusions from the ₹18L spend count include EMI transactions, fees/charges, balance transfers and interest (community-sourced, not confirmed HDFC policy).
- Welcome and renewal benefit: 12,500 Reward Points credited on realisation of the joining fee, and again on each renewal fee. Worth ₹12,500 at the SmartBuy travel rate, which fully offsets the fee. Complimentary Club Marriott membership (dining, room and spa discounts at participating Marriott hotels in Asia-Pacific) is also part of the package.
- Complimentary 1+1 buffet at select ITC Hotels.
- Insurance: air accident death cover up to ₹3 crore, emergency overseas hospitalisation up to ₹50 lakh, credit shield/liability cover ₹9 lakh.
- SmartBuy brand vouchers (GyFTR / Woohoo) earn 5X = 25 RP per ₹150, but from 1 Jul 2026 the accelerated portion is capped at 3,000 RP per calendar month. Roughly ₹22,500 of voucher buying per month at 16.67%, after which vouchers drop to the 3.33% base.
- Redemption ceilings to plan around: flights + hotels + airmile transfers 1,50,000 RP per calendar month. Statement cashback 50,000 RP per calendar month at ₹0.30/RP. Tanishq vouchers 50,000 RP per calendar quarter. Apple products 1 item per calendar quarter. Maximum 70% of any travel booking / Apple / Tanishq value payable in points.
- No cash-advance fee: HDFC's 2.5%-or-₹500 ATM cash advance fee explicitly excludes Infinia and Infinia Metal Edition. Interest from the withdrawal date still applies, so it is cheap-but-not-free cash.
- HDFC bank-wide 1% transaction fees (, thresholds measured per CALENDAR MONTH, each fee capped at ₹4,999): rent, 1% on every rent transaction regardless of amount. Wallet loads excluding PayZapp, 1% once loads exceed ₹10,000 in a calendar month. Fuel, 1% on any fuel transaction exceeding ₹15,000 (the ₹30,000 threshold applies to BUSINESS cards, not to premium consumer cards like this one). Utilities, 1% on total utility spend once it exceeds ₹50,000 in a calendar month. Education, 1% only when paid via third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq, MobiKwik or NoBroker (direct payments to school/college websites or their POS are free of it, and international education is exempt). Online skill-based gaming, 1% above ₹10,000 per calendar month. Insurance premiums are exempt from this fee set.
- Dynamic/static currency conversion markup rose to 1.75% from 15 May 2026 on transactions billed in INR at an international location or with an India-located but overseas-registered merchant. This is on top of, and separate from, the 2% foreign-currency markup.
- Optional Global Value Program (₹199 + GST per year, auto-renewing) returns 1% cashback on international spends, cutting the effective forex markup to about 1%.
- No reward-redemption fee and no cashback-redemption fee: the ₹99 per redemption request and the ₹50 per cashback redemption both explicitly exclude Infinia / Infinia Metal.
- Other charges: 1% + GST railway ticket purchase fee. Over-limit 2.5% of the over-limit amount, minimum ₹550. Payment-return 2% of the payment, minimum ₹450 but capped at ₹4,999 for Infinia and Infinia Metal. Metal card re-issue for loss/theft/damage ₹3,500 (vs ₹199 for plastic cards). Add-on cards lifetime free. Interest-free period 20-50 days.
- Reward point housekeeping: RP valid 3 years from accrual (vs 2 years on most HDFC cards). All accrued RP nullified if the card goes unused for 365 days. On closure, RP survive only 30 days and can then be used for products/vouchers only, never cashback.
- A RuPay sibling, Infinia Bharat, has been reported as rolled out in 2026 at a lower fee (~₹8,000 + GST, ₹8 lakh waiver spend) with UPI earning around 2 RP per ₹150 and a weaker ~₹0.75/RP SmartBuy value. It is a separate product rather than a UPI companion to this card, and HDFC has not published its terms, so nothing from it is priced into this entry.
Other exclusions
- EasyEMI transactions earn nothing, and converting a retail spend to SmartEMI reverses the points already credited
- Online skill-based gaming earns no points, and attracts a 1% fee above ₹10,000/calendar month
