Also worth knowing
- CLOSED TO NEW APPLICANTS. HDFC has discontinued sourcing of the classic Regalia for Indian resident customers. New applicants are routed to Regalia Gold, which is the bank's current ₹2,500 mass-affluent flagship. Existing holders keep the card, keep all features, and can renew it indefinitely. The very large legacy base is why the card still matters. Holders may also request an upgrade to Regalia Gold, which resets milestone tracking and zeroises milestone spends.
- Welcome / renewal benefit: 2,500 Reward Points credited on payment of the joining fee and again on each renewal fee payment. Not given in any year the fee is waived by spend. So hitting the ₹3 lakh waiver actually forfeits ~₹1,250 of points.
- Earns 4 RP per ₹150 where Regalia Gold earns 5 RP per ₹200, so this card out-earns the product that replaced it.
- SmartBuy accelerators: 10X on hotels and buses, 5X on flights and select retail, 3X on other shopping and rail tickets, with accelerated points capped at 4,000 bonus RP per month and 2,000 bonus RP per day.
- Insurance: ₹1 crore air-accident death cover, up to ₹15 lakh emergency overseas medical/hospitalisation, ₹9 lakh lost-card liability.
- Bank-wide HDFC fees, separate from the reward exclusions: 1% on every rent transaction (cap ₹4,999/txn). 1% on total monthly wallet loads above ₹10,000, PayZapp excluded (cap ₹4,999/month). 1% on the full fuel transaction once monthly fuel spend exceeds ₹15,000 for consumer cards, ₹30,000 for business cards (cap ₹4,999/txn). 1% on the whole month's utility spend above ₹50,000 (cap ₹4,999/month). 1% on education via third-party apps (cap ₹4,999/txn). 1% on online skill-based gaming above ₹10,000/month. All of these caps run per CALENDAR MONTH, not per statement cycle.
- Redemption housekeeping: cashback against statement balance capped at 50,000 RP/calendar month with a ₹500 minimum. Flight/hotel redemption capped at 50,000 RP/calendar month with a 70% ceiling on the booking value. Up to 70% of a product/voucher's value payable in points. On card closure points survive only 30 days and only for products/vouchers. A card reissuance fee of ₹199 applies to non-metal cards.
Other exclusions
- EasyEMI earns nothing and points are reversed if a retail spend is converted to SmartEMI
- Online skill-based gaming earns nothing, plus a 1% fee above ₹10,000/calendar month
- Cash advances earn no points and carry interest from day one
